Dry eye syndrome is a state of tears can not properly wet the eye. Tears produced by tear glands (lacrimal glands). Its function is to clean the eye and remove foreign objects or irritants.
Dry eye syndrome can result in air-conditioned room, exposed to smoke and the use of contact lenses. Activities that require high concentrations, so that the eyes tend to blink less in a long time, like working at a computer can also cause dry eye.
Reported by Genius Beauty, some researchers from the university medical school in Tokyo suggested that a person suffering from dry eye syndrome to get a drink of coffee.
Involving about 78 participants, the participants were divided into two groups, ie groups of coffee drinkers and coffee drinkers group instead.
Six days before trial, they were asked not to take drugs and do not consume caffeine. Half of them are first offered to take the placebo pills that contain caffeine.
The other side of the first participants received a placebo and then caffeine. The amount of tear fluid was measured 45 minutes after taking the pill.
Observations indicate, complaints of dry eyes is only experienced by 13 per cent of participants in groups of coffee drinkers. Disturbance of dry eye syndrome is more complained of by the participants in the non-coffee drinkers, which is as much as 17 percent.
"For now, we only recommend it to patients who are sensitive to the effects of caffeine." said the researchers.
