Elephant turns out to have human-like behavior. They are very gregarious, and groups. In fact, smart Asian elephants make a network of friends. Amazingly, they never forget an old friend.

This unique behavior was revealed by a study conducted by Dr.. Shermin de Silva of the University of Pennsylvania. "Even though the average gregarious, there is an elephant who chooses faithful with a few friends," said Silva was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

According to Silva, the elephant can find his friend even though separated by great distances. They could call a friend or find an old friend through scent.

"Therefore, despite having not seen, when he met an old friend they get along anymore," he said.

Silva explained that he was doing research involving 100 female elephants in Asia. The elephant was living in Uda Walawe National Park in Sri Lanka.

Silva studied their behavior for 20 months. Asian elephants have smaller bodies than African elephants. In addition to the body, they are also smaller ears than African elephants.

This study reinforces previous research that says elephants live in small groups. Normally elephants are female elephants in groups, while the male choosing independent and not join in any group
